Carex bicknellii

Prairie Sedge is an early spring blooming perennial in the Cyperaceae family. It can handle a
variety of moisture conditions, but it can handle dry soil better than most other sedges. This
sedge prefers full sun to part shade and is a cool season grower. It makes a great candidate for
erosion control. Prairie Sedge is a host plant for many species of grasshopper and provides
wildlife cover for many small animals.
